In October of 2010, The Missouri Police Chiefs Charitable Foundation opened a grant application process for all Missouri Law Enforcement agencies called the Mobil Data Terminal Project. The grant would supply Lap Top computers in all patrol vehicles for agencies that were selected in the grant bidding process. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office applied for thirty computers to outfit all of their patrol vehicles.
In May of 2011, The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was notified they were awarded the grant. The grant provided the Sheriff's Office, free of charge, fifteen Panasonic Lap Top Computers for their patrol vehicles as well as all the mounting hardware, installation fees, and one year of Internet service for each computer. The total amount of the grant is approximately $70,000.00 in equipment and service fees. This money is funded by the State of Missouri and costs nothing to the taxpayers of Lincoln County.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office applies for several grants each year. The grant application process is extremely competitive due to budget cuts and the economical conditions throughout the United States. More and more agencies are applying for State and Federal grants to supplement their equipment needs.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office will continue to apply for federal and state grants to help save money for Lincoln County and to keep their equipment up to date.
